A large university such as Iowa State attracts international students not only of various ethnic backgrounds, but of various educational backgrounds as well. Here, students come to get their undergraduate and graduate degrees in diverse fields like engineering, agriculture, sociology, history, etc. Like most other US universities, ISU offers special English courses for international students, and the tool used to determine which class is necessary for a particular student is the English Placement Test. One part of this test is intended to measure students\u27 reading proficiency, and this particular subtest is the interest of the current study.
